Corinne Gilkison Cup Announcement and Entry Form

The Corinne Gilkison Cup 2026 will be hosted by Dunedin Ice Skating Club. This interclub competition doubles as the Dunedin Ice Skating Club
Championships 2026, therefore it counts as a club championship for the purposes of NZIFSA Rule 205 (Qualification for Entry to NZ Nationals). The only annual Interclub competition in New Zealand.


The event will take place at Dunedin Ice Stadium from 19th and 20th September 2026

The Dunedin Ice Stadium facilities:
A 60m x 30m ice surface for training and competition
Space for off ice warm up
Adjustment of ice temperature to suit figure skating for the length of the Championship
Four changing rooms with shower facilities
Cafeteria facilities for competitors and visitors
One Olympia groomer to ensure optimum ice surface
Seating capacity for 1000
Car parking for 300 cars
First Aid facilities


Transport and Accommodation

Dunedin has an airport that is available to all of New Zealand and is close enough to the main town for easy transportation. Public transport is also available opposite the stadium, which connects the area to the centre of town. There are several motels within walking distance and many within a 10 minute drive of the stadium. 



Corinne Gilkison

Corinne Beatrice Gilkison was born on 6 September 1917. Corinne was a versatile sportswoman competing in Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Skiing & Tennis to name a few.

Corinne won the National Dance and Pairs with Brian Tuffnail in 1947 and again in 1948, as well as the Senior Ladies title held in Oturehua.

In addition to this Corinne won several short distance races in both Central Otago and Lake Tekapo the 880 yds, the 1 mile in 1947 and the 880 yards in 1948.

With the opening of Dunedin Stadium, Corinne was no longer participating in ice sports, but generously provided significant funding, the rink was officially named  the "The Corinne Gilkison Ice Arena".

Corinne died on 4th June 2014 at the age of 96 years. Dunedin Ice Skating Club has created the Corinne Gilkison Cup in her honour.
